The residents are proud of the low crime rate, clean streets, excellent city services, and friendly neighborhoods. Reynoldsburg has a rich history dating back to 1802 when the first pioneers settled the area. During the civil war, Reynoldsburg was active in the Underground Railroad, transporting and sheltering many fugitive slaves on their way to other free states and Canada. The city is also famous as Birthplace of the Tomato because local son and internationally recognized horticulturist Alexander W. Livingston was first to develop the tomato for commercial use.
